Birger Ohl appointed as new CEO of Officium
Pegnitz, 03. September 2024: Mr. Birger Ohl, who has covered senior management positions in industrial services businesses for over 15 years, has been appointed as CEO of Officium GmbH, a leading provider of submetering services in Germany majority owned by funds managed by Arcus Infrastructure Partners (Arcus), a leading European infrastructure investment firm.
Officium has grown rapidly since its foundation, in 2020, through a successful buy and build strategy to become one of the largest German metering service providers. The company more recently expanded to scalable, behind-the-meter and renewable tenant electricity production with the acquisition of Einhundert Energie. Together with Einhundert, Officium provides an integrated energy solution to the housing market across the full spectrum: photovoltaics, tenant electricity, metering and billing – an innovation in the German market.
Birger Ohl is taking the reins from his predecessor, Stephan Kiermeyer who, after a long and successful career in submetering, wishes to dedicate himself to new strategic challenges outside the sector. Stephan Kiermeyer will support Officium in an advisory capacity focussing on the continuation of the successful buy and build strategy. Mr. Kiermeyer is convinced that Birger Ohl is the right manager to lead Officium into the future: “I am certain that Birger has the energy, experience and leadership skills to continue the development of the company and drive forward the energy transition and digitalisation in the housing industry.”
Birger Ohl has a strong track record of managing growth in previous roles as CEO/MD with ISS and Selecta in Germany. He successfully led de-centralised organisations in different B2B services businesses and brings experience of working with private equity owners. Birger Ohl is looking forward to the new challenge: “I am enthusiastic about Officium’s vision and potential, and excited about the prospective of this business. Tthere is huge momentum and increasing need for integrated digital energy solutions for the housing market. I will work to ensure that Officium further consolidates its position in the market by offering its customers increasingly innovative, reliable and sustainable energy solutions.”
Stefano Brugnolo, Partner at Arcus, said: “We are grateful for Stephan’s dedication since inception. He has been instrumental to establishing Officium as a market leading player and we look forward to working with Birger to build on this strong position. Birger‘s business acumen and well-organised and highly analytical way of working, coupled with his open and inclusive management style, makes him an ideal leader for Officium.“
